Memorial Day – Remembrance Day

USA Flag on Canvas Background. Grungy US Map.
PFC Frank Davis, Nov 1943 – Sec 2 Maintenance Div.

Thinking of our dad and his brothers this weekend. Dad and one brother served in WWII in Europe and one brother served in Korea. Thankfully, they all came home safe and sound. They picked up their tools and carried on with the rest of their lives.

Daddy was an aircraft mechanic stationed in England and later, France. Uncle Lowell was in the Army and was at Normandy Beach on D-Day. Uncle Duke was also in the Army and served in Korea (Purple Heart recipient).

We don’t have many pictures from the time Daddy was in the Air Force or rather the Army Air Forces really, since the United States Air Force wasn’t a separate military branch until 1947. There are a few from the time he was in training in Wichita Falls, Texas, and a couple of official photos like the one above. In our grandparents’ home were three oval portrait photographs of “the boys” in their uniforms and they were the pride of the family.

Thank you to all our military personnel. You make the freedoms that we enjoy today possible.
